An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Land and Property Officer to work for a National Utilities business based from their depot in Worcester. You will be working on a major, high profile project which includes travel to sites across the East and West Midlands. This is fast paced, dynamic and high value infrastructure project that will potentially run for 5 years or more. You will benefit from up to two salary increments a year, holiday entitlement rising to 26 days + bank holidays after 12 weeks.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a self-starter, sufficiently motivated and ambitious to work on your own initiative without needing direction; excellent communication and problem solving skills are also essential.  You will be required to manage a portfolio of projects, provide support and guidance on project consenting requirements, undertake site meetings, secure a variety of statutory and non-statutory consents in a timely and professional manner, manage your time effectively and liaise with numerous stakeholders across each project lifecycle.

As a Land and Property Officer your responsibilities will include;

  • The provision of estates services – negotiating simple and complex multi-part consents, liaising with, governing bodies and securing statutory consents,  arranging private land agreements (for access, surveys, work sites, etc), agreeing heads of terms, negotiating and facilitating easements, leases and transfers in respect of the placement of electrical distribution network assets (overhead, underground and plant).
  • Land ownership investigations
  • Undertake basic valuations of rural and urban land/property
  • Completing Schedules of Condition and site handovers
  • Investigating and settling damage claims
  • Drawing legal plans using GIS Software
  • Managing a portfolio of varied projects simultaneously at different stages of lifecycle
  • Undertaking site visits/highlighting consenting requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
  • Provide guidance and advice on land and property matters to other staff working on the project
  • Meeting landowners, land agents, engineers, ecologists and other professionals in the pursuit of obtaining security of electrical assets

Key Skills and Experience;

  • Utilities experience is desirable, an understanding of how overhead lines are constructed and underground cables are installed and a general appreciation of the distribution network would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of the Electricity Act 1989 is desirable
  • Awareness of planning permission and planning regulations (General Permitted Development Order, Section 37 consent)
  • Valuation experience
  • Conflict and complaint resolution
  • Experience dealing with statutory bodies, land agents, third parties
  • Have knowledge and experience in negotiating and settling damage claims
  • Be familiar with the operation of wayleaves, deeds, leases and transfers
  • Be aware of environmental legislation relating to statutory consents
  • Have a full driving license and ability to travel across the East and West Midlands for site visits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office packages, GIS Software, Basic CAD)
  • Enthusiastic and adaptive to change
  • Creative  and proactive approach to problem solving

Hours are 8am – 4pm.
