Junior Systems Administrator, Bristol, £17.73 per hour, £34,223 per annum

We are seeking a Junior Systems Administrator on behalf of our client, to be based in Bristol and provide support to end users on their accounting/finance software.  This is a long term temporary role likely to run for at least 2 years, to be reviewed every 6 months.  There is also the opportunity to apply for permanent internal roles within the business, it’s a foot in the door with a large organisation. Excellent hourly rate with up to two salary increments a year, holiday entitlement rising to 26 days + bank holidays after 12 weeks, free parking!

A financial background would be a distinct advantage due to the fact there is lots of work with numbers, as would be someone who has studied in Economics, Business or Finance. Systems knowledge would also be highly advantageous, ie SAP, Xero or Sage. 

Main Responsibilities of the Junior Systems Administrator:

As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will be reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator, the job holder will be part of a team responsible for the maintenance, monitoring and development of the Finance Systems and applications. To provide support to the internal customers of those systems, and, the investigation and resolution of any system issues that arise. To liaise with external software suppliers relating to upgrades and other system changes.

The role supports a wide user base and thus requires a broad knowledge of the business processes and functions, as well as a good understanding of IT systems and change control processes.

As part of a team the Junior Systems Administrator typical duties:

  • Assist with the Administration of the Finance reporting applications
  • Monitoring of the Finance Systems; processes and system status
  • Security maintenance
  • Complete daily administration checks
  • Provision of support to the end user of the Finance systems to assist them in their duties
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of system issues and liaison with external software support teams
  • General system maintenance and housekeeping duties
  • Assist the Senior Systems Administrator in preparing data for Audit

The successful candidate must have:-

  • Good IT skills, to include Excel
  • An ability to pick up new tasks quickly
  • A good standard of Maths, head for figures/numerical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Understanding of a Company’s accounting and financial policies, procedures and accounting systems would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of financial systems would be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
