  • A temporary Contents Editor/Copy Writer needed to help with a backlog of work  – for our highly successful online sports wear company with an excellent Truspilot rating- within their Retail Operations team reporting to the Manager of Retail Operations.  Although  you need to be based in South Devon you will be able to work from home – you will need to provide your own hardwore, but will receive specific company training via Teams.  Although we have detailed here the full scope of the role when permanent in the main you will focus on basic copy tasks and products.  

  • Immediate start available, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm. The dress code is casual attire and this is a high energy, fun, sociable and passionate working culture.

    Key Actions expected from the role


    • Writes factual and creative copy to specific lengths/word counts for all web and print tasks across categories (soccer, rugby, running, tennis, cricket, select) and including editorials/articles
    • Completes copy requirements for whole brand campaigns incl. emailers, billboards, feature pages
    • Ensures factual and grammatical accuracy of written content.
    • Conveys context taking into account tone, grammar, syntax, flow, cohesion and other literary techniques. Has the ability to use quotation and paraphrase
    • Thinks creatively and conceptually
    • Conducts own research in order to better understand products, brands, subjects etc.
    • Researches technical aspects of products and brand-specific terminology for copy purposes
    • Ensures all work is completed to deadline for pre-planned and disruptive product launches
    • Continually works to improve knowledge and understanding of products, brands, departmental workings, website frameworks etc
    • Possesses meticulous attention to detail and has an in-depth working knowledge of grammar, punctuation, syntax, tone etc.Speed-reads text, identifies and corrects sentence structure, spelling, grammatical errors, typos etc.
    • Applies Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to product copy on the Pro-Direct Interface, website feature pages etc.
    • Keeps abreast of SEO analytics and trends
    • Communicates with brand contacts, tech reps and others for the acquisition of product information
    • Works with all departments incl. the design agency, the Business Unit, Social Media, Brand Communications etc. for copy solutions
    • Undertakes other copy-related duties required by all departments, such as customer service signatures, competition instructions etc.
    • Attends campaign meetings and other meetings when necessary
    • Maintain an up-to-date and in depth knowledge of all relevant products
    • Become familiar with all tools
    • Research sports, historical information & source new information in relation to brief
    • Take responsibility for own development using your natural passion for sport & social media
