Buyer, Bristol  –  6 month contract, salary dep on exp, £39,229 – £44,367

Their depot in Bristol are seeking a Buyer to work within their Procurement Team, the Procurement Team are responsible for the placement of Contracts across all business activities of the company.  The successful candidate will report to the Senior Buyer and will be individually responsible for a portfolio of contracts.

Experience in buying, procurement, is highly advantageous, but not absolutely essential, however the salary will be dependant on experience and qualifications, for example a qualified Buyer, ie CIPS qualified, could expect the top end of the salary range. 

This is a temporary contract intially for 6 months, but it’s a good opportunity to get your foot in the door with a large organisation with the opportunity to apply for permanent positions/internal roles. Excellent hourly rate, holiday entitlement rising to 26 days + bank holidays after 12 weeks, free parking! 

Main Responsibilities of the Buyer

  • Developing a strategy with the Contract Owner to deliver products and services that support the main business objectives
  • Issuing and evaluating tenders, complying with all Procurement Policies and EU Regulatory requirements
  • Negotiating with Suppliers to obtain the most advantageous terms & conditions and value for money while ensuring optimum quality in contract performance
  • Making recommendations to the Contract Owner and Senior Buyer in order to award contracts in line with Company Policy
  • Facilitating regular contract review meetings with Suppliers and Contract Owners to manage the on-going contract management and address any issues arising
  • Maintaining and updating the Contract Management software system in order to deliver quality management reports

Requirements of the Buyer

You will have strong negotiating, organisational and analytical skills and be able to communicate proficiently with key stakeholders at all levels. You must have the ability to use your own initiative as well as working within a wider team.
